I have some free time before my flight leaves this evening to take me back to Boston, so I decided to post about my weekend jaunt to the Windy City. My friend Rob and I arrived this past Friday evening around 6:30pm. We decided to keep the lodging expense within reason for this trip so we both got rooms at the Embassy Suites downtown.
After we checked in and got cleaned up, we met up with my other bud Ron and his wife Cynthia at the Fulton Lounge. We planned to rendezvous with Meredith, Lauren, Jess, Cristy, Bill, Matt, Eric and his girl here as well. Fulton Lounge is located in Chicago's meat packing district. Hidden away between industrial zoned warehouses and distribution plants, this bar had a hip minimalistic theme going for it.
Around 11pm, we headed to Cabaret-a sexy & luxe bar/club off of Hubbard St. downtown Chicago. With some help from Cynthia, we were able to get in via the guest list entrance. We stayed here drinking and dancing for about an hour. Then it was off to Crobar, which was celebrating its 13th anniversary. I think I speak for the entire crew that the night took a turn to the surreal the minute we walked through the doors. The DJ was spinning old school Ministry, Front 242, and Depeche Mode tracks alongside with new House and Techno beats. The light show, confetti, and dry ice machines added to the energy of the venue. When we finally decided to leave at 5am the place was still rocking.
Needless to say, everyone was junk on Saturday. I think I suffered the worst (this aging thing sucks). We all met up again around 9pm to have Sushi at a restaurant in Lincoln Park then it was off to a very cool bar called Landmark. After two drinks, we all piled into Bills truck and headed back into the city to Bill and Lauren's apt. I decided to crash on their couch while everyone else went to a couple bars in the neighborhood.
So thats that! I need to go check out of my room now. Rob and I are going to attempt to rally everyone before we leave to hit Sunday brunch.
I posted the pics I took over the weekend here. Enjoy.
